Across the Universe

Isn't it amazing how somewhere, someone is loving the same way we are?
Loving company, loving life, loving the weather. Making plans to go somewhere or walking without a direction. After all, it's not the destination that matters, but the journey, and what better than to have the best company in this journey we call life?

Be

IF YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY, BE
Leo Tolstoy, author of War and Peace

Could he have said it any better? I think not. Happiness is a choice. Shit happens- and it happens for a reason. but you have to suck it up and deal with it. As I tell my kids, you have TWO choices... deal with it with tears and screams, or deal with it with a smile. You have to deal with it anyway.

Glass half full or half empty? Whatever. Just drink whatever's left and fill it up again.

You got paid crap? Yay you, you got paid!
You have a crappy job? Yay you, you have a job!
You have a messy room? Yay you, there are kids in Africa who don't even have a house.
You have to wake up early the next day? So? Yay you! You're gonna wake up!
You have no plans? Yay you! You have a t.v. - watch it.

I guess today I have no point. I'm just happy and I wanna spread the joy like warm peanutbutter on toast.

So be. BE HAPPY.

Open Your Arms

Standing in the streetlight
Waiting for a stranger to approach
Holding up a sign of peace;
We can no longer put up a fight.

In a day where the lonely get lonelier
and lovers have many realizations,
I wait, unpatiently, to give out
one gesture of care

Hug me and I'll hug you.
Stand there and open your arms.
Breathe. And then... stop. Feel and believe
that there is someone out there who cares

Here's to you

Here's to you,
the toils you faced and the tears you cried
the love you gave and the hurt you denied

Here's to you,
to the journey's you took both near and far
the top you've unscrewed to your "possiblities jar"

Here's to you,
the fury to stand when the wind kept you down
you're face held high with your feet on the ground

Here's to you,
to your libertine soul
a lesson at a time, you are changing the world

Here's to you,
the person you were and the person you are
here's to your words that have brought me this far

Here's to them,
to the lives you will touch and the places you'll visit
the people you meet, and the food -so exquisite

Here's to us,
it's a blessing, you see,
that you're part of us....that you're a big part of me

Remember this moment

It's strange-

Sitting in a cold room; windows that take you back to a place where you don't want to return, chairs that go against the ideal comfort of a restaurant, tablecloths more reminicent of italy than of Texas, cement floors, and wooden walls. empty.

Then, someone, more than a stranger walks up to you. Someone with more than a rack of napkins in her hand. Someone with a story. Someone with something to say.

What precisely did we radiate at that moment? What energy did we emmit? What was it that traveled thru the empty space that was absorbed by her. What was it?

What ever it was, it reminded her of something special. Something that took her back- so far back- that she shared her thoughts and her words of wisdom.

Our memory of her and her words might last 15 minutes, 15 hours, 15 days, or perhaps (just perhaps) 15 years....

Whatever it may be, we took her back to a special moment, and in the end that is was truly matters.
